Telly is a new video based social network which lets you to shoot, share, and follow other’s videos on its website as well as iOS and Android devices. Telly’s app (for iOS and Android) is creating waves since its release and is a welcome addition to the video sharing apps like Vine and Keek.

Telly lets you to create your own feed of videos by selecting the people (friends, family members or celebrities) you want to follow. A good aspect of Telly is that it lets you even follow people who are not there are on its network. Signing up on Telly is simple as it supports Facebook and Twitter Connect. You can either select from the suggested members or search the Telly’s network for adding to your feed. Videos are taken from the posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Telly’s profiles of people you want to follow. Simply put, Telly app creates a nice platform to watch the popular online videos on the go.

The fun doesn’t stop here. Telly also lets you to create videos with effects on the go and share with others. You can either shoot new videos or choose any existing videos on your phone for uploading to the network. The onboard ‘Telly Camera’ allows you to shoot videos of unlimited length and add effects and music. The effect (normal, mono, sepia, negative or solarize) needs to be selected before you start shooting the video. Once the video shooting is done, you can add music to the video by choosing from a wide range of music tracks. Completed videos can be uploaded to Telly’s cloud based network and shared on Facebook, Twitter or with other Telly users. Upload of videos to the network is very smooth without any hiccups.

The interface of the app is very smooth and videos load and play very fast (depending on your Internet connection). The top bar drop-down menu has six options: Your Video Feed,  Popular Videos (classified into funny, shocking, breaking, celebs, etc.), People (friends you are following and other suggested members), Profile, Search, and Add a video (to shoot a new video or select an existing video to be shared).

To conclude, Telly is a nice social video app which makes shooting, sharing, and following other’s videos a fun filled experience. Its unlimited video recording capabilities, excellent UI, and video editing options are its biggest positives. But as Telly wants to differentiate itself on its content creation prowess, more video effects would have made the app more desirable. We can expect that in later versions of the app.

  • More video shooting time than other video sharing apps
  • Better control over the content created
  • Smooth UI

  • Basic video effects
